Crits N ThingsSeason 5

The dungeon is live. Somebody has to write it all down.

This is our table’s archive for the season: the crawler roster, the memorial wall, and every handout, achievement and finished neighborhood we’ve produced along the way. One place to point people at between sessions, instead of six chat threads and a folder of loose HTML files.

◈ SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT ◈

Welcome, crawlers, to the fifth season of your continued survival. Records are maintained for the benefit of the audience. Sponsors are watching. Do try to be interesting.

A quick multiverse briefing before we start — this might shape how you build your crawler.

We are not playing in Carl and Donut’s Dungeon Crawler World. We’re playing in a different one. This runs on Many-Worlds quantum theory: every possible outcome of every possible event actually happens, somewhere, which means there are infinite Earths, infinite Collapses, and infinite idiots walking down infinite staircases at 2:23 AM Pacific Time on infinite Tuesdays. This is just one of the other ones. Ours.

Here’s what that means structurally.

Different Neighborhoods, different Mobs, different everything. Somewhere back on the dungeon’s assembly line, this branch’s architects made different calls, or different disasters happened, or the butterfly effect just got bored and flapped somewhere else. If you’ve read the books, forget what you know about these floors. They are not coming. You have no home-field advantage here.

Possibly even similar Neighborhoods, similar Bosses, similar quest structures. The dungeon runs on a template, and some of it repeats across branches like cosmic clip art. But the outcomes are wide open, because here’s the thing: there’s no Carl. There’s no Donut. Nobody’s swooping in to rescue Rosie, romance a sentient cat, or accidentally become a galactic celebrity by punching a Goblin unreasonably hard. That already happened. Somewhere else. To somebody else. This time, it’s just you — which means everything the books’ heroes fixed, dodged, or survived by sheer main-character gravity is fair game to go sideways in exciting new ways.

So: read the source material if you want the vibe. Just don’t expect it to save you.
